Flower Power Is Not Dead

Just  a little thing I did a while back, I painted this but I did spruce up some of the colors digitally because they didn't look the way I wanted them to.  That may be cheating, but what the heck.

Of the many shots I got of the kids diving off this rock into the water I think this is the best.  The only drawback for this one is you can't really see the water.  One of the best actions shots I've taken.

The Submissive Man

I think adding color to this one really helped a lot, although you can still see the crease in the paper.  But it does look a lot better this way, and catches your attention more.  Just so we're clear, this isn't any sort of political statement or anything, I just thought it would be a neat picture to draw.

Small Stream

A small running stream.  It was a very peaceful scene and I just really liked it.

Movie Star

Based on a photo of a movie star from the 40's (I forget now who it was ) this drawing turned out pretty well in my opinion.  If the coloring hadn't turned out so spotty I might have even thrown it up on my Fine Art America page.  It will probably still go up on my Deviantart page.

Caught this kid as he was falling into the water.  He'll never be a pro unless he improves that form.  This almost looks like he's just standing there in mid-air.  Also, considering how fast hewas moving, it didn't blur too badly.  I'm kind of proud of that.

Just some Supergirl fan art.  Once again I had issues getting the color to take because of issue involving the cheap paper I use.  Once I get this all used up I am definitely switching to something better.

That kid is diving into the water at a really strange angle.  That is the mail thing I like about this picture, like how is he even doing that?  One foot is still on the edge and his head is already in the water.

Original is here.  I kept this pretty minimal.  I will likely do more fairies in the future.  They are easy and I like them.  Much easier to draw than other fantasy beings like elves dwarves and orcs.

Summer Fun At The Swimming Hole

It's hard to tell in this one, but there's a kid diving off the rock and into the pool.  I took some more closer up, and those will be coming soon.  I had a lot of fun trying to capture a good action shot of them diving.

Sword Woman

Here is the colorized version of the earlier drawing. I think this one turned out pretty good.  Nothing fancy or intricate, but that's mainly because I'm not good enough to pull off anything fancy or intricate.  Believe it or not there is stuff I do that's not even good enough to put up here.  Yes, it gets worse.  But overall I think this one is ok, so I am sharing it with the world.  After all, I am aware not every artist can be Rembrandt, the point is to make something that makes you happy and to share it in the hope that it might make someone else happy as well.

Across the Water

Despite the bit of lens flare and the washed out sky, I like this pic.  This was a particularly pretty piece of scenery.  I love the reflections of the trees in the water.  You can see the water is exceptionally still when I took this.

I've Just Seen a Face

Didn't know what to call this post,so I just named it after a Beatles song.  Still need to work on getting the eyes right in my drawings.  But overall I think it's okay.  Had a little trouble getting the lips colored right because when I originally drew this I wasn't planning to color it and I shaded them in.

Couple Sitting Riverside

A couple sits by the river talking and enjoying a nice early summer day.  I probably should have cropped out that guy's head on the right, but I left I didn't really do much to this picture in the way of editing.  I decided to just put it up as is, and it's still a nice picture.

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

This is another pic that I posted before but have since colorized.  Other than the fact that the cornea of one eye is way bigger than the other, it's okay.  In actually kind of like it.  I think the color of her dress goes well with the background, and the hair turned out nice.  I really like the fingers on this one.

Next Block Over

I started to take this picture just of the view of the building in the distance, but decided to dial it back to include the building on the lower left.  This is right off the main street of a largish well to do town, and this is a building that people actually live in.  Sometimes the contrast in living conditions can be pretty severe.

DJ Baby Groot

Baby Groot as a DJ.  This is a colored version of a pic I had done before.  I like the orange background, it reeks of GotG Vol 2.  Not a great picture, but it was fun.

Buzzard Alternate

This is one of a number of pictures I took of this bird. I posted one on Dreamstime to license.  This is my second favorite of the bunch.

Tree and Moon

I had a little trouble with the coloring on this one, but overall it turned out okay.  Not quite exactly how I envisioned, but close enough for a first pass.  I may revisit this one later, but for now I have so many things I want to get made.

Patiently Waiting

These kids were just patiently waiting for a parade to start.  They were being so good, the parents should be proud.  I wish I had gotten in a little tighter for the picture, might have turned into a halfway decent portrait.

Silhouette of a cowboy.  The coloring got a bit off because of the cheap paper I was using.  I may try this one again, because I kind of like it.

A meeting of butterflies.  I would have liked it if they were spread out a bit more, because it's hard to differentiate them here.

Friday, July 14, 2017

I thought this one turned out quite nicely, if you ignore a couple of issues with the jewelry.  I like the colors on it, and I think her hair actually looks pretty cool.  Overall I'm pretty happy with this one.

Walking Down The Street

Of course the one girl is dressed very colorfully, but what I really love about this picture is the shadows.  Especially the shadow of the girl with the umbrella.

Comic Book Lady In Color

A picture of a woman from a comic that I tried to redraw.  The original is much better, don't judge it based on the crudity of mine.  The color does make mine a little better.  I wish I had gotten the red a little brighter looking at it now.  You can compare it to the original here.

Stroll By The Creek

I was taking a picture of the bridge over the creek and this gentleman was strolling by with what I presume is his grandson.  It was a nice day and they were out doubtless enjoying the weather and scenery.

Blindfolded In Color

So when I was coloring this using GIMP, it accidentally did part of her body in black.  I originally intended to have her skin be some sort of skin tone, or something close.  But I turned out to really like the black on black, so I just went with that.  What do you think, do you like it too, or should I have gone another route?  You cane see the original here.

Bird's Eye View

This is a picture of the fish hatchery at Roaring River in Missouri, taken from an observation post on one of the hiking trails there.  Walking that trail made me realize just how out of shape I really am.

Return of Wonder Woman

This is the first time when after adding color to one of my old pics I preferred the original.  It's okay, I just think it had more of an impact in black and white.  Probably doesn't help that the bands are all yellow, I should have probably added more color to them.

Rock Wall

Maybe I've just played too many video games, but when I saw this I immediately thought of Skyrim.  You know the curved walls with the glowing runes where you learn new shouts at the end of a dungeon.  That's what it reminds me of.  Probably just me.  Either way, it's a cool formation.

Bald Lady In Color

I like this one I think a little better than the original even if the color does make a couple of small mistakes more obvious.  Of course I always liked this one anyway, as it was just different than the others.

A couple of the hawks from the earlier pic, but I didn't get zoomed in on them.  I still thought this pic was ok.  I think the big birds look really cool when they are flying.  Ironically, Big Bird would look ridiculous flying.

Wonder Woman and Superman

This is a new pic, I didn't get as much detail on Wonder Woman's costume as I'd like.  Superman's face is kind of weird too.  But overall it's ok I guess.  I'll do better next time.  All the coic book artists of the world have nothing to fear from me anytime soon though.

Well Dressed Man

Button up shirt and tie, this guy was definitely looking overdressed for the crowd we were in.  It must have been very warm, so he gets my respect for choosing to look spiffy over staying cool.  The beads are a nice accent to his ensemble.

Anticipation (In Color)

You can compare this to the original here.   I would have liked the black to be more solid but I just couldn't get it to take.  Otherwise I think it turned out ok.

Hawk In Flight

This is an alternate version of a pic I posted on 500px .   The other one was a littler closer and tighter, but I like this one too, so I thought I'd share it here.

Young Lady (In Color)

Another of my drawings that I added color to.  I like this one a lot better, even if I did have trouble with the color fading out on the right side.  I've got to start using better paper I guess.  You can compare with the original here.

Sulphur Wells

These are sulphur wells that used to be part of a clinic.  I guess each one supposedly had a different kind of sulphur, though I'm not sure how that happened since they are only a few feet apart and likely originate from the same source.  There is a sign on each stating what ailments that type of sulphur is supposed to correct.

Ahhhhh (In Color)

This one was hard to color for some reason.  You may notice the color is a bit uneven.  I think it is because it was drawn on really cheap paper which made the surface a bit splotchy.  I still like the way it turned out though.  The original can be seen here.  Somehow the color makes it seem less like ecstasy or agony and more like surprise or shock that is being expressed.  Maybe that's just me though.  What are your thoughts?

Baby Tree Branch

A new branch sprouting on an older tree.  It's kind of neat I think.

Full Metal Alchemist

I added a background color and made his eyes the same color.  Not sure if it added anything to the original in this case or not.  What do you think?

Pirate Lady

Arrr now there be a fine lookin' woman indeed matey.  Here is woman letting out her inner pirate.

Thursday, June 22, 2017

I decided to go with something a little silly for one of my first experiments with color.  This is an alien from a series of cartoon characters that I drew and shared in an earlier post. Not sure if it benefited from color or not to be honest.  What do you think?

Pink Tutu

She is rockin' the pink tutu and pink jacket!  I love catching high fashion moments with my camera.

Masked Parade Girl

Look at the cute little girl in the mask throwing beads!  That's really the whole point of this photo, just how adorable she is.  It's kind of neat how I caught the beads in mid toss too, but mostly just look her!!!  😻

Part of my experiment with adding color to my drawings using GIMP.  I figured I would post this one first, as I've already made this the profile picture for the various W&F Kreations social media sites.  This one is really good I think.  I also think the color helps to mask some of my drawbacks as an artist.  Expect to see a lot more color!

Trying something different

I was working on some drawings recently and after scanning them in decided to try out the painting tools in GIMP.  I was so happy with the results that I am going back and trying out color on some of my older drawings.  So if you see something that looks somehow familiar, it's probably a picture I posted before in black and white.  Looking forward to the new fun this will open up.

Mardi Gras Granny

Not the most outrageous bit of costuming I saw that day, but it was nice to see that even the older generations were getting in on the fun.  Thanks to the political tensions many younger people think that older people are all uptight and too serious.  It's good to do anything you can to change those perceptions.

Lady Aiwass

This actually started out as just doodling, but then it reminded me of a picture that Aleister Crowley drew of the being that dictated the Book of the Law.  Only it looked more feminine somehow, so I added the lips and named it Lady Aiwass.  Then I decided to give it some color to keep it from being just a bad drawing, so now it's a bad painting!
